US Labor Department and FCC Announce Effort to Prevent Fatalities in Telecom

There has been a strong emphasis from The United States Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration this year on protecting telecommunications workers, specifically those working on cell phone towers, from fatal injuries.  Last year there were 13 fatalities in communication tower-related accidents. This year, there have already been 11 for the first 9 months. In its latest attempt to help inform employers about proper safety procedures while working on a cell phone tower, the United States Department of Labor has joined forces with the Federal Communications Commission and leaders in the telecommunications industry to help spread worker safety and safety training for tower technicians.
